Care Corps Trauma Training

The Lighthouse School was pleased to host Dr. Jim and Pastor Bruce from Care Corps International for one week of staff training in early October. Chronic trauma and acute fear and anxiety characterize every day life for the people of Gaza and the children tend to suffer the most. Practical skills and advice were shared during the afternoon sessions for teachers and staff to be better equipped to help their students emotionally, spiritually, psychologically and academically. Learning to listen and opening the door for “healing conversations” was the primary objective of the training. The Lighthouse School is committed to providing a safe and secure place for children to grow and thrive in an atmosphere of love and trust. Training is essential to making this a reality. We are grateful for the investment that Care Corps has made in Gaza and the Lighthouse School. Thank you Dr. Jim and Pastor Bruce for your kindness, compassion and willingness to come and share your expertise. Plans are being made for a team of 6-7 volunteers to return in June 2019 for a Summer Care Corps program to include sixty children from grades four to six.
