Lighthouse Summer 2021

In cooperation with the Edward Said Conservatory of Music and the Gaza Mental Health Foundation, the Lighthouse School hosted a program on a sunny Saturday in July filled with fun and activities for the students and their families. The “Music Bus” arrived at the school with a team of volunteers ready to entertain and educate the crowd of children and parents who had gathered. The previous school year, with long Covid lockdowns and students separated from their classmates and teachers, had ended in mid May with a ten day war with Israel. The trauma and psychological effects of the violence combined with the months of isolation had profound negative effects on the children in Gaza, as well as their parents. Thanks to the leadership of Shady Najjar and the Lighthouse staff, the students and their families were able to enjoy an exciting day of fun-filled activities intended to both heal and entertain. This encouraging event was a great way to reconnect with the children and the families to prepare for the start of a new school year in less than three weeks. We pray and trust the Lord for a new year in Gaza with healthy and happy students filling their classrooms with excitement and the joy of learning…TOGETHER. We also pray that the light continues shining in the darkness and bringing hope to the hurting. Thank you to all who made this day possible and to all who continue to serve and sacrifice for the children in Gaza and the students at the Lighthouse School.
